                  Cubs - Badges



                  Photography Badge Level 1

                  Last Wednesdays Photography Badge program was well attended and all the Cubs seemed enthusastice about the challenge.

                  Week 1 (June 15th) :
                  Learn about the Camera and plan the Photo Treasure Hunt.
                  Cubs are encouraged to comence the project at home and bring along some images to the next meeting.

                  Week 2 (June 22nd) :
                  Review the Photo Treasure Hunt and bring prints 6” x4” prints or
                  Email to Cub’s (special address for this bage)   1vicseaphotobadge@gmail.com
                  This session will include some practical photography by all the Cubs, so if you can loan them a camera to bring it would be geat.
                  A Minimum of 6 images are required for this badge. The images must include six topics from the Treasure Hunt Theme. Fast, Happy, Small, Dark, Light, Colourful or Scary.

                  Week 3 (June 29th):
                  Photo Treasure Hunt Exhibition with Parents/Garudians invited for tea and cookies.

                  The Essential Lesson Notes:

                  1. Show how to load, hold and trigger a simple camera. Explain how to use a viewfinder and explain the importance of keeping still while taking a photograph.

                  2. Take six photographs based on a theme of your choce and mount them to display a sequence of events or story.


                  3. Take six photographs of one subject in varying light conditions such as direct sunlight, backlighting, shade, cloudy days, flash and indoor lighting. Mount the photographs for display.

                  4. Explain what you liked and disliked about the results of your photographs.

                  5. Display and explain the results to your Pack.

                  We are currently looking for parents to assist the Cubs to earn Boomerang Awards and Achievement Badges by coming for a few consecutive weeks to help with a particular task. If you can help, please contact Steve Hibbard on 0412 380 423

                  Boomerang Awards

                  There are three Boomerang levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each Boomerang level has 14 parts. For each Boomerang, parts one to seven must be completed and of parts eight to 14, three must be completed. You can do the tasks in any order, except for number seven - Promise and Law - which must be completed last and signed off by your Cub Scout Leader.

                  Achievement Badges

                  Achievement badges give you lots of opportunities to concentrate on your favorite areas of interest.  You have 34 to choose from!
                  There are four types of Achievement badges - see below for the types and associated badges. Each has two levels.
                  Note: as part of the Grey Wolf Award, every Cub Scout will need to have earned four Level 2 Achievement badges, one from each of the four categories/groups.
