                  Cubs - Investiture

                  Induction into the Cub Scouts

Cubs must be 'invested' before they can start to earn badges. Investiture is a semi-formal ceremony which is performed by the troup leader. Before a Cub can be invested there are several conditions which must be fulfilled.

                  1)  Cubs must have had their seventh birthday, but are yet to have their eleventh birthday.
                  2)  Must be a registered and paid up member of Scouts Australia.  (See Membership page for costs.)
                  3)  Must be a paid up member of First Victorian Sea Scouts Group or have arranged with the Group Leader to pay the fee over a specified time period.  (See Membership page for costs.)
                  4)  Must have a Cub Scout Shirt - navy blue with yellow shoulders.  Scouting uniforms and equipment are available from Snowgum Stores, for example 370 Little Burke St in the CBD.  http://www.snowgum.com.au/stores/15/
                  5)  Cubs must demonstrate they know the following:
                  • The Cub Scout Promise
                  • The Cub Scout Law
                  • The Left Handshake
                  • The Scout Salute
                  • The Scout Sign
                  • The Scout Motto
                  • A brief history of Robert Baden Powell
                  6)  Cubs must have demonstrated a willingness to behave in a socially accepted manner at Cubs.

After investment they will be provided with the Group Scarf, Basic Uniform Badges and Section Badge Record Book.

                  The Cub Scout Promise

                  On my honour,
I promise that I will do my best,
To do my duty to my God, and to Australia
                  To help other people, and
To live by the Cub Scout Law

                  The Cub Scout Law

Cub Scouts are loyal and obedient.
Cub scouts do not give in to themselves.
