Building confident, capable, and independent young people!

"Through a structured, youth-led program, Cubs develop leadership, responsibility, and real-world skills that last a lifetime."
About Cubs

Cubs is the next stage after Joeys, designed for children aged around 8–11.

At this stage, children move beyond being guided and begin to take more responsibility for their learning and actions.

Through a balance of structure, challenge, and fun, Cubs develop independence, confidence, and strong teamwork skills.

What Makes Cubs Different
Joeys thrive in a small, guided group.

Cubs builds on this by introducing more structure, teamwork, and leadership development.

In Cubs, we follow the Patrol System, a key part of Scouting.
  • The Unit is made up of 5–6 Patrols
  • Each Patrol has around 5–6 Cubs
  • Each Patrol has a Patrol Leader, chosen by the Cubs
  • The Unit is led by a Unit Leader, also selected by the Cubs
Our program is youth-led and adult-supported.
This means:
  • Cubs take the lead in running meetings and activities
  • They learn to organise, communicate, and make decisions
  • Adult Leaders guide, support, and ensure safety
This structure is intentionally designed to develop:
  • Leadership
  • Responsibility
  • Confidence
  • Independence
  • Teamwork

What Cubs is About

Cubs is where children grow in confidence, independence, and leadership through a youth-led, adult-supported program.

All of our Leaders are volunteers, and we value the support of our families and community in helping activities run smoothly. At times, we may ask for assistance with setup (such as preparing boats), so Cubs can focus on making the most of their activity time.

We warmly welcome you to be part of our Cubs community.
