Our Program
During term 1 and term 4, we aim to spend as much time on the lake as possible. Cubs begin their water experience rowing in our rowboats, kayaks and canoes, and activities are aimed at each child's aptitude. Once cubs have gained certain levels within these areas, Cubs may be able to use the sailboats under strict supervision. Weather permitting, Cubs will be on the water each week, or alternate weeks if enough qualified leaders or parents are not available,
.
During term 2 and term 3, we encourage the parents to choose a topic from the Badge section and run a session (usually half an evening) to assist the leaders to help the Cubs obtain their Boomerang/Achievement Badges. We encourage all Cub parents to find a topic that excites them, then add this onto the calendar together with when they are available to come in and execute their program. Leaders and other parents (if required) will assist in whatever creative ideas you come up with. See our badges section for some approaches. If you have an idea not within the Cub syllabus but which you feel would be fun and relevant, just let Akela (Paul) know and then go for it. We have never said no yet!
Most Sunday afternoons the hall is open for water activities for any member family/Cub/Scout that wants to take advantage of our great facilities.
